Barranco del Prado
Julián has been cultivating Barranco del Prado for the last sixty years. A pre-phylloxera vineyard, sitting 750m above sea level, it was planted on ungrafted vines by his grandfather at the end of the 19th century. This unique plot is valuable not only for the exceptional quality of its grapes, and for being a reservoir of Garnacha plant material, but for its role as a living testimony and reference point for the Sierra de Yerga as a historic area of cultivation for this variety.
Our single-vineyard Barranco del Prado wine is made from 97% Garnacha as well as some varieties that are distinct minorities in Rioja such as Calegraño (2%) and Tinto Velasco (1%).
