Artisan wines in an urban winery

We make our wines in a small winery in the center of Logroño. It is the first urban winery in Rioja, a multipurpose space where, in addition to making their wines, Javier and Conchi carry out their other activity, architecture and interior design applied to the world of wine.

Within a few hundred meters, all processes, from the arrival of the grapes to the labeling and sealing of the bottles, are carried out manually with the same care and passion with which we work our vineyard, which has led to our wines being featured on the menus of dozens of Michelin-starred restaurants around the world.

Its privileged location, a 10-minute walk from the Plaza de El Espolón, allows our visitors to stroll to the city's growing gastronomic offerings in a carefree and safe manner.

“Urban Cellar” visit

Although we cannot physically visit our vineyards, our passion for growing grapes continues in our urban winery. This passion, combined with our team's expertise, allows our visitors to discover the work that the Arizcuren family has been doing in their vineyards for decades, as well as taking a journey through the past and present of traditional wine culture.

After this initial introduction to Arizcuren, we will take a tour of the urban winery's production and aging facilities, focusing on the unique aspects of artisanal winemaking, aging in clay amphorae, foudres, and barrels. We will also see how we carry out the manual work of labeling and sealing bottles, which is so characteristic of wines that are far removed from industrialized production.

We will finish with a tasting of four wines accompanied by a small appetizer of our own organic olive oil with wood-fired bread.

Alma of Arizcuren

A visit for those who want to delve into the origins of Arizcuren, discover our vineyards in Quel, their history, and the history of the people who have tended them for centuries. As Javier Arizcuren says, “It's not just about making wine, but about preserving a heritage that might otherwise disappear.”

We will begin the visit to the Sierra de Yerga with the panoramic view offered by the 15th-century castle. Next, we will take an upward tour of the different vineyards, observing their soil characteristics, climate, varieties, cultivation techniques, and more, ending at a pre-phylloxera vineyard in the middle of the mountains, an authentic living museum of an almost lost viticulture that tells the true story of Rioja Baja.

We will conclude the visit by tasting the wines in our 16th-century cellar, a hand-dug cellar where wines were made until less than a century ago. We will literally delve into the heart of our soils, of the landscapes we have just walked on, which gives the experience of tasting our wines in this place an exceptional character.

We will accompany the tasting with a light lunch featuring traditional local products.
